Our Procedures

Extractions/Wisdom Teeth

Teeth may need to be extracted for a number of reasons.

Some teeth are extracted because they are severely decayed; others may have advanced periodontal disease, or have broken in a way that cannot be repaired. Other teeth may need removal because they are poorly positioned in the mouth (such as impacted teeth), or in preparation for orthodontic treatment.

Anesthesia Services

Our goal at Mid-State Oral Surgery is to provide the BEST experience possible.

Deep Sedation/General Anesthesia allows us to perform your surgical procedure safely and comfortably. A thin needle will be introduced into a vein in your arm or hand. The needle will be attached to an intravenous tube through which medication will be given to help you relax and feel comfortable.

TMJ

In between the lower jaw and the base of the skull should be a disc that acts a cushion and allows for smooth, pain free movement of the joint.

Problems with the TMJ often arise if this disc is in the wrong place (dislocated), and can result in arthritis (inflammation of the joint) in some cases. The most common cause of pain in the TMJ is disc disorders and arthritis.

Pathology/Reconstruction

The inside of the mouth is normally lined with a special type of skin (mucosa) that is smooth and coral pink in color.

Any alteration in this appearance could be a warning sign for a pathological process. Although rare, the most serious of these is oral cancer. Most changes in the mouth are non-cancerous, but still require evaluation and treatment.

Jaw Corrective Surgery (Orthognathic Surgery)

Jaw corrective surgery is performed to realign jaws and teeth.

Orthognathic (or Jaw corrective) surgery is indicated when there is a growth disturbance in the upper or lower jaw bones. The growth disturbance can result in an overbite, an underbite, a crossbite, and/or facial asymmetry. These malocclusions (incorrect bites) can result in difficulty chewing, speaking, TMJ pain/dysfunction, and social stigma.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are titanium fixtures that are placed in the bone

The fixtures are shaped like screws with threads that engage the bone in order to allow intimate contact with the titanium surface and the bone of the jaw. Dental implants are highly successful if planned, placed, and restored properly.

Non-Surgical Cosmetic Procedures

Injectable Non-invasive Cosmetic Procedures

Dynamic rhytids, or wrinkles, are the result of facial animation, and can become more pronounced with age. Elevens, crows feet, laugh lines, and worry lines are all common wrinkle patterns that can be erased with BOTOX injections.
