BOTOX treatment is a popular non-invasive approach to reversing the mild to moderate aging effects of wrinkles. Dynamic rhytids, or wrinkles, are the result of facial animation, and can become more pronounced with age. Elevens, crows feet, laugh lines, and worry lines are all common wrinkle patterns that can be erased with BOTOX injections.
BOTOX works by denervation of targeted muscles in the face that cause wrinkles during facial expression. The effects of BOTOX are not permanent, so treatment often has to be repeated two or three times per year to retain the results. With repeated treatments over time, often the interval between treatments becomes longer, and the dose required for adequate results can become less.
Facial aging is largely a result of volume loss and volume redistribution. This can commonly be seen as thinning of the lips, sunken cheeks or flattened cheek bones, nasolabial folds, or marionette lines. Injectable fillers are commonly used to restore volume and contour to the face to provide a more youthful appearance. Although there are several types of dermal fillers, we use the JUVEDERM collection. These are composed of hyaluronic acid which is a natural component of your bodies tissues.
Fillers are commonly used to add volume and contour to the upper and lower lip, enhance cheek projection for a more youthful facial shape and appearance, and correct nasolabial folds and other lines or depressions that form around the nose and mouth. Improvements from hyaluronic acid fillers is temporary and typically lasts anywhere from 3-9 months depending on the individual, but with repeated treatments permanent collagen production can be achieved.
